Since my last programme notes we have made the extremely difficult decision to replace Matt Cronan as first team manager. Matt is to be highly commended for the work he did both last season and this season however sometimes in football the need for change arises. Matt C for such a young man will have learnt an awful lot from his 18 months managing the Sumas and I thoroughly expect to see him managing higher up the pyramid in the future.

We are delighted Darren Purbrick has agreed to step up to first team manager, assisted by Matt Eggleston, Oscar Crowley and Jamie Shepherd. The appointment will give the club a renewed energy and I can’t wait for the rest of the season with ‘operation great escape’ in full flow starting with an impressive 3-0 win away at Virginia Water FC on Tuesday night.

Darren has been involved in the club for a few years now but I’ve known him in the football circles for a long time since his days at Finchampstead and Chalvey Sports. Darren is a great coach, manager and an all round top guy who I am no doubt will bring enthusiasm and success to Lowther Rd.
